Improved Therapies in Breast Cancer Treatment

JOAN CITADEL CADELINA is an young Filipina who presented with breast cancer upon admission on July 08, 2009. The patient was diagnosed with left breast cancer 17 previously. When admitted, Ms. Cadelina~s symptoms were severe and had difficulty walking due to the size of the tumor. Admission diagnosis was: left breast invasive ductal carcinoma in situ stage 4, and liver metastases.

Examination: the tumor of the left breast was approximately 10 * 8cm and had begun to fester, there was light yellow liquid pus, accompanied by peculiar smell, but no significant changes in the surrounding skin color. Lymph node under the armpit measured about 8cm in diameter of about 8cm, texture was hard, it had clear boundaries, and no tenderness.

With local chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and endocrine therapy, Ms. Cadelina had significant reduction in the size of the breast tumor and axillary lymph nodes.
